The only real bad thing that I’ve found about the quadh20 quadcopter is the price can be up there for some people. I suppose the color could get to you if you didn’t care for yellow, red, or white.

The direction, speed and manner of motion of the quadcopter are controlled by adjusting the RPMs of one or more rotors. This development has led to the elimination of torque induced control, which is a chronic ailment during vertical flights. This smart piece of engineering also gets rid of the tail rotor, which is not particularly effective during lifts. Over time, I think that the basic quad configuration is becoming less and less a default, and because of that, along with a few other reasons, I think this article should slowly be merged with multirotor. Quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicles are used for surveillance and reconnaissance by military and law enforcement agencies, as well as search and rescue missions in urban environments. DJI Innovations unveiled its GPS-enabled Phantom quadcopter less than a year ago, and since then it has become perhaps the go-to aerial platform for the GoPro HERO actioncam. In April, the company provided us with a sneak peek at the next model in the line, the Phantom 2 Vision. While there weren’t many details available at the time, that’s changed as of today, with the Vision’s official commercial release. Among its new features are improved battery life, a video-stabilizing platform and most significant of all, an included HD video camera that allows for first-person-view via a mobile device.

First of all, you may wonder for what purposes those strange flying machines can be used. Well, the construction industry is very regulated (at least were I live, in the UK), and once every step is completed (for instance, laying proper foundations) the workers have to make sure that it has been irreproachably done. Whilst it may appear relatively easy for small buildings – such as a new house – it becomes much more challenging when it comes to large structures, such as a block of flats. For that purpose, flying a quadcopter over the construction site is quicker than conventional methods, and, most interesting, it records everything, allowing people on the ground to have a clear aerial insight of the entire building that is being constructed.

Quadcopters and other multicopters often can fly autonomously. Many modern flight controllers use software that allows the user to mark “way-points” on a map, to which the quadcopter will fly and perform tasks, such as landing or gaining altitude. Other flight applications include crowd control between several quadcopters where visual data from the device is used to predict where the crowd will move next and in turn direct the quadcopter to the next corresponding waypoint.

As for actually flying the sucker… well, a search on YouTube will show you that there are plenty of experienced RC aircraft hobbyists out there who are quite adept at piloting the FPV. My only previous quadcopter experience has been with the DJI Phantom and Phantom 2 Vision, and while they’re certainly more intimidating to fly (because they’re so big and expensive), they’re also a lot easier. This is mainly due to the fact that they both use GPS to hold their position in mid-air.
